本课程将基督教会自第一世纪至今两千多年的历史。内容含初代教会到中世纪晚期教会在教义争论、社会处境、政教关系等方面的形成与演变,以及宗教改革到当代基督新教的宗派形成、神学发展、社会改革、海外宣教及「西方基督宗教」(Western Christianity)向「世界基督宗教」(World Christianity)的演进。以古观今,盼望教会史课程协助华人教会在福音与异教、神学与文化、正统与异端、教会与社会、信仰与政治等复杂处境中,寻找更清晰的身份和前路。

This course covers the history of the Christian Church over 2,000 years since the first century. The content includes the formation and evolution of the Church from the early church to the late Middle Ages in terms of doctrinal disputes, social situations, and church-state relations, as well as the formation of denominations, theological development, social reform, overseas missions, and the evolution of "Western Christianity" to "World Christianity" from the Reformation to contemporary Protestantism. By looking at the past and the present, we hope that the Church History course will help the Chinese Church find a clearer identity and future in the complex situations of gospel and paganism, theology and culture, orthodoxy and heresy, church and society, faith and politics.
